Mary Beth Berry has been associated with Ebenezer
Counseling Services since she moved to Knoxville in
1996 with her husband Dale, and four children.
Mary Beth (Foster) grew up in Germantown,, TN.  She
attended The University of the South in Sewanee TN,
receiving a B.A. in Psychology and a high school teacher’
s certification.  At Sewanee, Mary Beth participated in
InterVarsity Fellowship, where she grew in her personal
faith and was introduced to her future husband, Dale.
They married in 1980 sharing a desire to honor God with
their lives, marriage, and family.  Since then, God has
allowed them to go through some refining fires.  However,
they both remain committed and called to have a healthy
family as well as to help others on the journey to be
healthier individuals, couples, and families.
Before children, Mary Beth taught high school math in
New Orleans, LA, volunteered for Crisis Pregnancy
Centers, and attended Reformed Theological Seminary in
Jackson, MS.  There she earned a Master’s degree in
Marriage and Family Therapy.  Shortly thereafter, she
and Dale began their own family with the arrival of their
firstborn in 1986.
During the baby years, Mary Beth practiced being a wife
and mother, homemaking (in MS, VA, NC, MS again and
finally in TN), and volunteering at church and school, as
well as a small amount of private practice.
As the youngest of the Berry children has become more
independent, Mary Beth has increased her counseling
hours at ECS.  She has successfully met the criteria for
becoming a licensed professional counselor in the state
of TN.
Mary Beth enjoys teaching in small groups and one on
one discipleship.  She has a heart for young women
sorting out their identity and roles, as well as for other
women who have gotten “stuck” somewhere on the
journey.  She considers it a privilege to be invited to walk
with fellow “journeymates” through some difficult places.
She believes that the calling for this stage of her life is to
continue to grow, and to encourage others to grow in
healthy relationships with the goal of loving well.
