COUNSELORS AT EBENEZER 

Below you will find a brief introduction to our counselors including the areas of therapy in which they specialize. At Ebenezer, all counselors work from the foundation of their Christian faith and worldview. Our counselors are either licensed, or are in supervision as they work toward state licensure. As an element of licensure as well as commitment to quality services, our counselors pursue continuing education on an ongoing basis. Clinical Staff

Dale Berry, Ph.d.

Dale Berry is a Licensed Psychologist and is the clinical director of Ebenezer Counseling Services. Dr. Berry started his practice in 1996, and in 1998, the practice developed into a group named Ebenezer Counseling Services and has grown into a multi-service practice with the goal of serving the greater Knoxville community.

Lisa Duke, M.S.

Lisa Duke is a Licensed Professional Counselor who has served with ECS since 1998. She works with both individuals and couples, focusing on anxiety, depression, abuse, eating disorders, trauma, grief and loss, and faith challenges. She helps couples with relational issues, pre-marital and marital counseling as well as attachment and adoption issues.

 

Eileen S. Bowman, L.C.S.W.

Eileen S. Bowman is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She works with individuals, couples and families and a variety of issues such as work, sexual abuse, post-abortive issues, sex therapy, and general family issues. Eileen also specializes in working with couples in crisis.

Kevin MIschler, M.A.

Kevin Mischler is a Licensed Professional Counselor. He specializes in helping bring about reconciliation within relationships, as well as in fostering self-awareness and spiritual growth. Kevin does a lot of work with couples, including premarital counseling. He also works with issues related to depression and anxiety.

Richard Petsch, M.S.

Richard is a counselor in supervision working towards licensure, and is the assistant clinical director of Ebenezer. He works with a broad spectrum of clients including children, adolescents, families, and adults. Richard is passionate about helping to bring about unity and peace within marriages and families.

Gretchen Norris, M.S.

Gretchen Norris (formerly Fromke) is a Licensed Professional Counselor. She specializes in offering relational and interpersonal counseling to individuals, couples, and families. Gretchen’s clinical interests include grief, loss, anxiety and depression, as well as spiritual concerns.

 

Jackie Johnson, M.A.

Jackie Johnson is a Licensed Professional Counselor. She specializes in working with trauma, and is trained in EMDR. Jackie works with individuals facing issues related to anxiety, PTSD, grief, life transitions, as well as, spiritual concerns. She also works with couples both for premarital preparation and for marriage therapy. She is trained in Emotion Focused Therapy. Another calling for Jackie is working with therapists and counseling students seeking therapy for themselves.

Anneke Moody, L.C.S.W.

Anneke Moody is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She enjoys working with preteens, teenagers, college students and young adults. Anneke works with the struggles of anxiety and depression, as well as, body image and disordered eating. She can address trauma that is often present with these struggles and is certified in EMDR. Additionally, she likes working with relationships and enhancing communication. If you have spiritual concerns, Anneke will be happy to explore them with you.

Lauren Brakebill, M.A.

Lauren is a Licensed Professional Counselor. Her areas of focus include anxiety, depression, trauma, sexual abuse, domestic abuse, body image, eating disorders, codependency, self-harm, guilt, shame, spirituality, and relational conflict. Lauren is a trained in EMDR.

Leigh Ann FosteR, L.C.S.W

Leigh Ann Foster is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She specializes in working with children and families, providing individualized care from within a Christian perspective. Leigh Ann’s clinical focus includes play therapy, autism spectrum disorders, obsessive disorders, and social skills difficulties.

 

Katy Oliver, L.M.S.W.

Katy Oliver is a Licensed Master Social Worker in supervision working towards licensure as a LCSW. Katy specializes in working with women in all stages of life with a focus on anxiety, depression, body image, relationships, spirituality, life transitions, and career exploration. She loves hearing her client’s stories and sees every difficulty as an opportunity for growth and restoration.

April Ella is a Licensed Professional Counselor. She loves working with teens, college students, couples, and women of all ages. April’s clinical focus includes relationships, infertility issues or pregnancy loss, dealing with illness, guilt & shame, eating disorders, grief and loss, as well as anxiety, depression, and self-harm.

John is a Licensed Professional Counselor. He specializes in helping those who are struggling with compulsive behaviors of all kinds, including drugs, alcohol, sex, and gambling. John also works in areas of trauma, sexual compulsivity, paraphilia, guilt and shame, as well as general anxiety and depression.

Lisa Matthews, Ph.D.

Lisa Matthews is a licensed professional counselor. She works with clients in all stages of life, including individuals, couples, and families. Lisa’s clinical focus includes anxiety, loneliness, relationship and family issues, postpartum adjustment, adoption and foster care, as well as spiritual wellness and growth.

Patricia Seaver, MS

Patricia is a Licensed Professional Counselor with Mental Health Service Provider status. She completed her Master of Science degree in Mental Health Counseling at the University of Tennessee. Her passion is working with adolescents and children, with a particular interest in evidence-based Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT) for young children. She works with issues of depression, anxiety, grief, trauma, emotional dysregulation, family transitions, and behavioral concerns.

 

Patricia Wade, MA

Patricia Wade is a licensed professional counselor (LPC/MHSP), as well as a women’s ministry leader, speaker, and teacher. She completed her master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA. She is trained in Narrative-Focused Trauma Care therapy, Internal Family Systems, EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy and Experiential therapy. She specializes in working with women 18 years old and up who are looking to process through trauma, depression, anxiety, life transitions, boundaries, relationship challenges, grief and loss, and faith and spiritual matters.

Haley cottrell, M.A.

Haley Cottrell is a licensed professional counselor (LPC/MHSP) and completed her Master of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Liberty University. She has a passion for working with children, adolescents, individuals, parents, couples and families. Haley’s clinical focus includes anxiety & depression, divorce, parenting and relationship issues, as well as grief and shame. Haley can also address trauma and is trained in EMDR.

Amy Malcolm, L.c.s.w.

Amy Malcolm is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who specializes in working with teens (16+), young adults, and women of all ages. Her areas of clinical focus include post-partum challenges, anxiety, depression. trauma, grief and loss, relationship, and women's issues. Amy has a heart for young mothers adjusting to motherhood and for teens and young adults struggling with confidence, body image, and other struggles that arise during these challenging years.

Lauren Pagel, M.A., MDiv.

Lauren Pagel is a Licensed Professional Counselor-Mental Health Service Provider. Lauren received her Master of Arts in Counseling degree from Reformed Theological Seminary-Orlando. Lauren focuses on a range of areas including trauma, grief, bereavement, abuse, body image, disordered eating, depression, and others. As a certified Prepare and Enrich facilitator, she can also facilitate pre-marital counseling/couples counseling in order to promote healthy marital relationships.

Elizabeth Sullivan, M.A.

Elizabeth Sullivan is a licensed professional counselor (LPC/MHSP). She received her Master of Arts at Richmont Graduate University. She enjoys working with individuals and couples. grief, loss, anxiety, depression and trauma. Elizabeth approaches therapy with a focus on building emotional awareness, emotional regulation, and practical skills to equip and empower others in their day to day lives. Elizabeth enjoys hearing people's stories and struggles because she believes God has called her to sit compassionately with people in whatever circumstance they might be in.

Rachel Blackaby, L.M.S.W.

Rachel Blackaby is a Licensed Masters Level Social Worker under supervision.  Rachel grew up active in Missions in Alberta, Canada.  Her passion is working with women, young adults, and adolescents as they walk through the complexities of life.  She believes in an integrated approach to counseling that helps to combine a person’s emotional, relational, physical, and spiritual self to bring forth transformation.  Rachel has a particular interest in CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), Pragmatic Psychodynamic Therapy, Narrative therapy, and the Enneagram.

Stewart Scott, M.A.

Stewart is a licensed professional counselor (LPC/MHSP). Stewart received his Master of Arts in Counseling from Reformed Theological Seminary in Orlando Florida. His pastoral and
military background have helped create a passion for working with couples and families, anxiety and depression, anger, PTSD and veteran issues, life and career transitions, and calling and
vocation exploration. Stewart ultimately believes that healing happens in relationships and that there is always hope, even in this broken world.

Stuart Coleman, M.A.

Stuart earned a Master of Arts in Counseling from Richmont Graduate University in Chattanooga, TN with specializations in trauma therapy, sex therapy, Christian spirituality, and is trained in EMDR.  Also a graduate of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Stuart served for over 20 years as a licensed and ordained pastor before becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor and Mental Health Service Provider. Stuart has a passion for helping persons resolve their spiritual conflicts and heal wounded heart issues. He also takes joy in helping others learn to live out of their God-given identity.

Alison Clifton, M.S.

Alison Clifton is a counselor in supervision working toward licensure after completing her Master of Science degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Carson-Newman University. She has a passion for working with individuals of many ages including children (5+), adolescents, and adults as they navigate and heal from complex life situations. Her major areas of clinical focus include trauma, shame, anxiety, life transitions, codependence and other relational struggles, women’s issues, and developmental issues including neurodevelopmental disorders like autism spectrum disorder. She has been trained in Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy (TF-CBT), as well as traditional CBT.

Raquel Harvey, M.C.

Raquel Harvey is a counselor in supervision working toward licensure. She holds a Masters of Counseling degree from Monash University in Australia. Raquel works with adults, teens, couples and groups. She focuses on a range of issues including anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, trauma, relationship issues, and identity. Raquel provides a safe space for you to share while also collaborating with you to identify strategies that support you in reaching your goals.

Brooke Carlson, M.A.

Brooke Carlson is a graduate of Johnson University having earned her Master of Arts in Counseling. She enjoys working with adolescents (ages 16+) and adults. Her areas of focus include anxiety, depression, life transitions, interpersonal relationships, and helping clients process shame and trauma. Brooke deeply desires to walk alongside individuals as they pursue wholistic growth in all areas of their life.

Anna Hassenzahl, M.A.

Anna Hassenzahl is a counselor in supervision working towards licensure. Anna enjoys working with individuals, both women and men (including adolescents), couples, and families from all backgrounds. Her approach to counseling is relational in style and focused on the whole person, working from both a biblical framework and a clinical approach. Her areas of focus are anxiety and depression, PTSD, issues related to sex and sexuality, parenting, marriage, relational and childhood trauma, abuse, shame, guilt, cross-cultural transitions, grief and loss including infertility and infant loss, issues of faith and toxic faith recovery, vocational calling, and missionary care.

Brian Davis, M.Div., M.A.

Brian Davis is a graduate of Liberty University in the Clinical Mental Health Program. He brings experience as a Hospice Chaplain and Grief Support for families experiencing loss. He works with people experiencing grief, divorce, or loss from other causes. He also feels called to work with persons dealing with depression and anxiety issues.  In particular, he would like to work with men dealing with adult male issues of all kinds.  Brian believes that every person is created in the Image of God and is deeply loved by God.  As such, he believes it is important to respect the dignity of each person and show them the love and grace of Jesus Christ in the midst of life’s challenges. 

Laura Gilmore, M.A.

Laura Gilmore is a therapist in supervision working towards licensure under Sarah Criss, PhD, LMFT License #1077. She completed her Masters of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy at Belmont University in Nashville, TN. Laura hopes to work with adolescents (12+), women of all ages, families, and couples. She hopes to walk along side people as they navigate and heal from life transitions, anxiety, depression, grief, relationships, parenting and the complexities of life. Laura is also a Certified Child Life Specialist and has a heart for children and families that have had medical challenges.

Brandon McNeilly, M.A.

Brandon completed his Master’s in Clinical Mental Health counseling from Richmont Graduate University. Brandon believes mental wellness incorporates mind, body, and spirit. He has a heart to help individuals, couples, and families navigate and heal from a wide range of issues including compulsive behaviors (drugs, alcohol, sex, gambling, etc.), infidelity and betrayal, trauma and abuse, anxiety, depression, and questions of faith.

Anna Davis, M.A.

Anna completed her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health counseling from Richmont Graduate University. Anna has walked with people navigating substance abuse, sex addiction, trauma, betrayal, and grief, as well as life adjustments. She considers it a privilege to sit with clients in the difficult seasons of their lives.

 

Kelsey Kraft, L.M.S.W.

Kelsey Kraft is a Licensed Master Social Worker in supervision working towards licensure as an LCSW. Kelsey received her Master of Social Work degree from University of Michigan. Kelsey is passionate about working with individuals to find healing and restoration. Kelsey is EMDR trained and works in areas of trauma including betrayal trauma. Other areas of focus include guilt, shame, sexual issues, relational struggles (individual consultation), anxiety, and depression.

Erin Accardi, M.S.

Erin Accardi is a counselor in supervision working toward licensure. Erin graduated from Furman University in Greenville, SC with a B.A. in Sociology. Erin completed her Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health at Carson Newman University. Erin’s approach to counseling is relational, and her desire is to create a safe space where an individual can feel seen, heard, and known. She enjoys working with individuals (adolescents and adults), couples and families. Her clinical interests include helping clients through grief and loss, anxiety and depression, parenting, premarital and marital counseling, women’s issues, life transitions, spiritual concerns, substance use, trauma recovery, and self-harm.

Mary Blake Broadway, M.A.

Mary Blake received her M.A. in Clinical Counseling at Johnson University. She works with a wide variety of ages ranging from children through adulthood. Her areas of clinical focus include trauma, abuse, grief and loss, betrayal, anxiety, depression, shame, cross-cultural transitions, and spirituality. Mary Blake seeks to create a safe space in order to listen, comfort, challenge, and encourage her clients as they navigate life’s challenges. She is a honored to be with her clients through their vulnerable seasons. 


Interns

Interns at Ebenezer are students who are still pursuing their master’s or doctoral degrees and are in the later stages of their education. Interns are supervised within their training program, as well as by licensed therapists on staff at Ebenezer. Interns offer quality services, and by bringing them on staff, we have an active role in training the next generation of therapists and counselors.

 

Kathryn Jordan, Intern

Kathryn is a current student at Johnson University pursuing her Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Kathryn has experience working with adolescents, college students, and young adults. Kathryn’s clinical focus includes childhood trauma, anxiety, identity + calling, relationship concerns, emotional regulation, cross-cultural transitions, and spirituality. Kathryn has lived overseas and speaks Spanish conversationally. She enjoys working with individuals with diverse backgrounds. Kathryn desires to create a space where people feel safe to come as they are, and also feel empowered toward growth. 

Morgan Arnold, Intern (Starting January 13th)

Morgan is currently pursuing a graduate degree in clinical mental health counseling at Johnson University. Some areas of focus include emotional regulation, sexual addictions, abuse, anxiety, depression, perfectionism, spiritual concerns, and insecure attachment. She has a special interest in helping clients navigate shame/guilt due to its nature of causing much pain and confusion. Morgan believes that relationships can heal, so she aims to create a space for clients to feel safe while navigating the complexities of life.

Cade Causey, Intern (Starting January 13

Cade is currently pursuing his masters degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Johnson University. His clinical foci include trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, marriage, OCD, and spiritual concerns. Cade’s is passionate about employing a blend of empathy, encouragement, and evidence-based techniques in therapy. Cultivating a safe, personal, and intentional space is Cade’s foundation for the counseling relationship.
